Anthropic shares drug-discovery progress and acquires Mithril Medicine
Anthropic has run deep research partnerships with six drug developers, started its own drug discovery work, and acquired one-person company Mithril Medicine.
Anthropic said its scientists have spent recent months in deep research partnerships with six organizations developing new medicines, and that it has begun drug discovery efforts of its own, learning how Claude can support many stages of drug development.
The blog post says Anthropic acquired Mithril Medicine, a one-person company developing treatments for two rare forms of muscular dystrophy. Founder Cody Tranbarger used Claude to coordinate work with 11 external labs and took a possible treatment from idea to promising results in mice in under 18 months; if candidates hold up, Anthropic expects a drug could be ready for human trials as soon as late 2028. The post also covers work with Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) on clinical trial planning.
