Cursor launches realtime voice chat with agents
Cursor announced realtime voice calls with agents in the Agents Window, IDE, web, and iOS, so users can describe changes out loud, ask what an agent is doing, and hear progress updates. Voice chat runs on Grok Voice; with Privacy Mode on, it runs with zero data retention.
Cursor announced on November 6, 2026 (Singapore time) in its changelog that users can now talk with agents in a realtime voice call—describe a change out loud, ask what an agent is working on, and hear updates as work moves forward.
Voice chat works in the Agents Window, the IDE, on web, and in Cursor for iOS. When the agent is idle and the chat input is empty, users click the waveform button labeled Start voice chat where Send usually is. On iOS, users can also say “Hey Siri, call Cursor” to start a call with a new agent, and mute or hang up from the Lock Screen with a Live Activity.
The voice agent listens, replies, and hands coding work to the agent in the chat. While that agent runs, users can keep talking—ask what changed in a diff, check a run, search earlier messages and calls with that agent, or switch between workers in a Project. The coding agent also speaks briefly with progress notes and a short answer when done, rather than reading the full written reply aloud.
Cursor says voice chat runs on Grok Voice, with voices such as Ara, Eve, Leo, Rex, and Sal in Voice settings. With Privacy Mode on, voice chat runs with zero data retention. Voice chat is separate from dictation (earlier called Voice Mode), which only turns speech into text in the chat input.
Users need to update Cursor to try it. Official changelog: Voice Chat with Agents
