Perplexity announced Teammates on November 6, 2026 (Singapore time) from its official X account, with a launch thread from CEO Aravind Srinivas.

What it is
Teammates are personal agents for work (AI assistants that carry out multi-step tasks on their own). Perplexity describes the shift as giving high-level goals instead of writing prompts in a session. Teammates take on jobs and work proactively using your Perplexity Computer tasks, skills, memory and tools.

Key features

  • Teammates can collaborate with other Teammates.
  • They can message coworkers in Slack; Srinivas says they can watch ongoing work in a Slack channel and act proactively when something changes.
  • They build on your existing Projects, Memory and Skills, and your existing connectors, files and past sessions carry over.
  • They learn from feedback to avoid repeating the same mistakes.

Availability
Rolling out now to Max subscribers on the web; native mobile and desktop apps are coming soon.

Perplexity's own use (per the CEO)
Srinivas says Perplexity uses Teammates daily for bug triage, QA loops, security monitoring, data analysis, managing A/B tests in production and growth marketing. He says its internal workspace has about 10,000 Teammates created within the last 30 days, with about 1,000 active the day before his post.
