Cohere announced the initial close of its Series E round targeting up to CAD $7 billion, led by Schwarz Group with NVIDIA, Bell, the Government of Canada and others, to build a frontier AI company outside the U.S. and China.
On 29 October 2026, Cohere announced the initial close of its Series E funding round targeting up to CAD $7 billion, led by Schwarz Group with participation from Bell Ventures, Bullhound Capital, Inovia Capital, NVIDIA, Prosperity7 Ventures, and the Government of Canada. The company says the capital will fund a frontier AI company outside the U.S. and China: frontier models that compete with the best, a secure platform that lets institutions own the AI they run, and cyber defenses democracies can rely on.
Canada separately announced a proposed investment of up to about CAD $1.6 billion in Cohere, with conditions that include keeping the headquarters in Canada and expanding domestic compute and jobs by 2030.
